LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are semiconductors that emit light when current is applied. They run cooler than incandescent bulbs, and are insensitive to vibration, which makes them perfect for use over pot hole strewn roads and off-road. More importantly, they last much longer than other forms of lighting, 50,000 hours or more, so they’ll probably be the last lights you’ll ever have to buy for your car. Although they’re initially more expensive than incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs will more than pay for themselves in the long run.
LEDs can increase your safety when you choose them as tail light bulbs and high-mount stop lamp bulbs. They light up 0.2 seconds faster than incandescent bulbs, which may not sound like much, but when you consider that at 60 mph a car travels 88 ft. in one second, that time can give the driver behind almost 20 ft. of additional stopping distance, which can be the difference between a safe stop and a collision. LED interior bulbs. like those for dome lights, are available in your choice of colors, allowing you to create a comfortable ambiance.
Everyone would agree that it’s common sense to replace a headlight bulb if it’s burned out, but did you know that even if your bulbs are still working they should be replaced if they’re a few years old? Although today’s Halogen bulbs perform better and last much longer than the regular incandescent bulbs of yore, they still wear and become dim over time, and the reduced illumination can make it difficult to see clearly at night and in inclement weather.
